  The Federal Government is determined to deepen local content and reduce importation of products we could produce locally, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB),  Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote, has said. NIJ Matriculates 309 New Students for 2021/2022 Academic Session

  The Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ) on Tuesday admitted 309 students into the various department of Journalism  of the institution for the academic session 2021/2022 Of the numbers (96) were admitted for the National Diploma(ND)  programme , 112  for Higher National Diploma (HND) programme  and 91 were for the Postgraduate diploma (PGD) programme. Speaking at the 19th matriculation ceremony, NIJ provost, Mr. Gbenga  Adefaye restated the commitment of the institutions to provide quality education while adding that the students of the institution graduate on time and don’t experience strikes as being witnessed in other tertiary institutions. Adefaye said the importance of matriculation ceremony cannot be over emphasized because students are not recognised until they have been matriculated. He urged the students to  face their studies squarely and shun any act that will jeopardize their stay in the school including cultism, examination malpractice, bullying, sexual harassment etc

World Water Day: Groups Reiterate Opposition To Water Privatization

  Groups under the aegis of Our Water Our Right Africa Coalition (OWORAC) have described privatization as the biggest impediment to universal access to potable water on the continent of Africa. The coalition which is made up of activists from Cameroon, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, and Uganda who are working to push back against water privatization  in Africa are worried about  the influx of big corporations on the continents with the aim of commodifying water. The group  said  a well funded public water system is the best way to guarantee  accesbility and affordable safe water for all  and called on governemnt to break ties with companies seeking to make profits out of water.
